The first paper in this material is a description by concerned Bella Coola Valley residents of the horrific conflict they endured with grizzly bears during 2014. The second paper by Gary Shelton is based on the Bear Encounter Survival Course he provided Valley residents on November 1, 2014. Gary delves deep into bear biology, Native American prehistory, and the politics of managing bear populations. This work provides an update to his previously published books and has new information regarding the complexities of bear behaviour. It will add nicely to his already well-established body of research.
